Merewether Beach is a well loved stretch of the local coastline. Once upon a time there was only Bitou Bush on the dunes but now thanks to the efforts of several local coastcare groups native vegetation is once again holding the dunes in place. The main task we tackle is the ongoing replacement of local weeds such as Gazania and Bitou Bush with local coastal native plants.

Our long term aim is to improve the local environment of the Lower Hunter region through bush regeneration and the protection and propagation of local native plants.

TIN strives to increase the community’s ability to look after the coast by sharing bush regeneration expertise and educating who ever wants to learn about local native plants communities, weed identification and the best ways to deal with weedy worries.
