Urban Forests, Farm Forestry and Cabinet Timbers

Increasingly, property owners are expressing interest in growing native tree species as street trees, park trees, shelter-belt plantings, wildlife habitat zones, riparian restoration corridors, and, occasionally, as farm forestry projects.

There is little regional information available on urban forestry/farm forestry projects incorporating rainforest cabinet timber trees, and land-holders embarking on such a project locally would be pioneering this land use.

National Tree Day ...get growing, plant early ,plant often.

TIN's annual planting additions to King Edward Park are on again for Schools Tree Day on Friday 31st July and National Tree Day on Sunday 2nd August from 9am till noon.

National Tree Day keeps growing bigger each year. We had over 170 people come along last year, we put on a BBQ and it's a great family morning, with 5000 plants to get in, plant early and plant often!

Cruising the Coast-have a stay-cation

Trees In Newcastle (TIN) will be showing off the efforts of the volunteer coastcaring crew these holidays with family-friendly, guided, scenic strolls from Merewether Beach to Burwood Beach and around King Edward Park.

Three for all to Clean Up Throsby Creek on Sunday 1st March

Trees In Newcastle, The Wilderness Society and Newcastle Rowing Club will all have their volunteer crews out on Sunday 1st to Clean Up Throsby Creek foreshore and around the Carrington mangroves.
