Burwood Beach is the coastal part of Glenrock State Consevation Area. In the past, this bit of beach had its foredunes covered by Bitou Bush. Several years of efforts by coastal volunteers are making a difference to the varierty of coastal plants that now call Burwood Beach their home.

Merewether Beach is a well loved stretch of the local coastline. Once upon a time there was only Bitou Bush on the dunes but now thanks to the efforts of several local coastcare groups native vegetation is once again holding the dunes in place. The main task we tackle is the ongoing replacement of local weeds such as Gazania and Bitou Bush with local coastal native plants.

Coastcaring is physical work but the personal satisfaction and the views are tremendous. It’s a great way to learn about bush regeneration and what it takes to look after a Threatened Ecological Community, the Themda Grasslands on the seacliffs and our coastal vegetation.

TIN is a community not-for profit group. Its strategic direction is guided by a Committee. Any member of TIN is welcome to come along and participate in the discussions that direct the organisation.

Trees In Newcastle's Empowering Ecoactions through Knowledge Sharing project has put together a trainign package to

Morgan Street Reserve is a short term project which aims to enhance the wildlife corridor connections from Merewether to Glenrock. Replacing weeds with local native plants and mulching will be the main activities.
