King Edward Park and Shepherds Hill are iconic Newcastle parks with a long histories and great views. Coastcaring here provides a great way to learn about bush regeneration and what it takes to look after a Threatened Ecological Community, the Themda Grasslands on the seacliffs. It is the location of TIN's National Tree Day plantings and is a park in transition.

TIN is celebrating Biodiversity month with a week long sale and will have thousands of local native plants on offer at 30-50% off the normal price. There'll be free plants for purchases over $50 and freebies that need a bit of extra care for those with a bit of a green thumb. There will be display of what the plants look like when grown and of course someone to talk to about the conditions that are best for growing.Spring is a great time to get your garden underway, the plants can settle in before the heat of summer. first week in September is Landcare Week. This week is set aside by Landcarers
across Australia to celebrate the role that Landcare plays in sustainable land
use, community participation in natural resource management and biodiversity
conservation.
We
will be celebrating the considerable successes of Landcare in Lake Macquarie in
Landcare week with an LRO Open Day and BBQ on Thursday 4th, and a Landcare Mini
Muster in and around the "Landcare Humpy" in Speers Point Park on Saturday
6th September for the Lake Macquarie Landcare Network, our sponsors and
supporters.

Volunteer inductions happen every Wednesday at 10am to give you an overview of the organisation and the OH & S issues at TIN.
