TIN volunteers will be lending a hand to do a bit of weeding in the Spotted Gum Ironbark Open forest. This is a very common vegetation community around the slopes of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie so it's also a great opportunity to learn a little bit more about the local bushland, the weeds that sneak in and how to remove them with minimal disturbance.
Burwood Beach is the coastal part of Glenrock State Consevation Area. In the past, this bit of beach had its foredunes covered by Bitou Bush. Several years of efforts by coastal volunteers are making a difference to the varierty of coastal plants that now call Burwood Beach their home. This regeneration project still has a long way to go and you can be a part of its transformation.
TIN is a community not-for profit group. Its strategic direction is guided by a Committee. Any member of TIN is welcome to come along and participate in the discussions that direct the organisation.
We also share a gluten free meal prior to the meeting, some great recipes get created and consumed by the Committee
Do you have troubles telling the difference between a Plum pine and an African olive? Can you spot a White cedar in a forest of Golden rain trees? Do you worry about your Wattles...Black or Cape Leeuwin? If you'd like to be able to venture forth with vegetation confidence Ann Loughran's workshop is the first step in that journey.
