Our Outcomes
In 2010 TIN’s Education Team worked in 76 primary and 20 High Schools across the region. We helped build knowledge, understanding, skills and positive attitudes with 90 primary and 37 secondary teachers, 533 primary students and 380 secondary students. Our Education Program:
-
Inspired children to protect and care for their environment through shared responsibility and custodianship of their projects.
-
Facilitated establishment of ‘green’ teams and Junior Landcare groups.
-
Supported schools and community groups to plant bio-diverse native gardens, regenerate bushland and create natural habitats for local wildlife.
-
Helped schools fix environmental problems such as erosion, soil compaction, weeds, and water run-off.
-
Promoted a spirit of camaraderie among students and connection to their local community through the sharing of responsibility and ownership of Landcare projects.
-
Facilitated direct involvement and interaction with natural ecosystems.
-
Encouraged the development of holistic School Environment Management Plans.
