What is L4Y?

Landcare for Youth (L4Y) is a team of experienced Landcarers helping young people take direct action to conserve nature.

L4Y connects young Landcarers to each other, Landcare groups and city-wide support networks.

Who can play?

Primary and secondary schools, scouts and guides, Duke of Edinburgh groups, youth groups, church groups

L4Y aims to

  • Give kids hands-on experience planting local natives and regenerating bushland.
  • Encourage groups to restore habitats for wildlife and plant trees to capture carbon.
  • Help you use Landcare principles to manage environmental problems on your site.
  • Share skills, knowledge and resources.
  • Foster a spirit of stewardship to care for the Earth.
  • Support ‘green’ teams and Education for Sustainability.
  • Work together and have fun!

How can we help?

The L4Y team can:

  • Assess your site and offerdesign ideas and advice.
  • Select the right mix of local native plants for your project.
  • Supply local native plants to suit your site conditions and budget.
  • Provide workshops on native tree planting, plant propagation, biodiversity management and the environmental benefits of trees.
  • Supply info and resources including a CD of information on planting project ideas and how to  make them a reality
  • Provide advice for developing funding applications, we have a grant getting guide to get you started.
